- I have been running xntp for almost 2 years on our Convex and Dec machines.
- Today I obtained xntp3 and compiled and installed on our Convex (set up as
- a local time server even though it doesn't actually have a real clock).
- Unfortunately all other machines, still running the 2 year old xntp
- now can't talk to the new xntp3 time server.
-
- I used the same /etc/ntp.conf file [maybe that is part of my problem]. xntp3
- started up just fine and xntpdc[3] ran ok with the local machine. In xntpdc
- if I set host to an old xntp machine, I got a:
- localhost: timed out, nothing received
- ***Request timed out
- So both xntp3 can't talk to old xntp machines and old xntp machines can't talk
- to xntp3.
-
- Any suggestions/ideas? I can't see anything in the doc/man pages which talks
- about potential problems.
-
- Thanks
-
