  13. Hi,
  14.    We are looking for suggestions for protocols to be used over a medium speed
  15. serial communications channel (probably 1.5Mb/sec).  We have a requirement to
  16. implement a unidirectional 'socket-like' interface between communicating
  17. processes.  We would like to be able to route the data to unix hosts on a
  18. standard LAN (FDDI or Ethernet).  We would build the 'router' hardware, but the
  19. protocol would have to include IP-like addressing capability.
  20.  
  21. Our set-up is a little unusual:
  22.  
  23. o The return path from the unix systems is much slower than the data comming up.
  24.  
  25. o Most data will destined for the unix systems.
  26.  
  27. o The unix systems can 'broadcast' to the remote systems.
  28.  
  29. o There will be little peer-to-peer communication between the remote nodes.
  30.  
  31. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
