- PLC stands for Programmable Logic Controller which is a manufacturing term
- for computer controlled machine. This is sorta like a robot but not
- exactly the same. Anyway, from what I know PLCs talk to computers over
- dedicated async serial lines and download code with a simple send
- block/ack type of protocol. At least that is how they worked a few years
- ago.
