  11. PLC stands for Programmable Logic Controller which is a manufacturing term
  12. for computer controlled machine.  This is sorta like a robot but not
  13. exactly the same.  Anyway, from what I know PLCs talk to computers over
  14. dedicated async serial lines and download code with a simple send
  15. block/ack type of protocol.  At least that is how they worked a few years
  16. ago.
