- I have encountered the similar problem back in my old shop. Just like you, we h
- ave a wide variety of PCs from different vendors and each of them run their own
- version of MSDOS.
-
- What we (the technical support group) believe is that the various MSDOS is at le
- ast 99% compatible with the IBM PCDOS.
- You should not encounter major problems runninf the normal application software
- unless you are making use of some undocumented features to write your own progra
- ms.
-
- We have a simple bypass to the problem. We did a simple surgery to the NET.COM
- program to make it skip the checking of DOS version. This can be done by using
- the DEBUG commands and look up for the interrupt call of the DOS version checkin
- g.
-
- We also did the same thing to the LAN Support program (v1.01,v1.02) to make it r
- un on the older DOS 3.1.
- You make want to try this out.
