  30. I would guess that you are having a file locking problem.  Under some
  31. older versions of SunOS (and other vendors versions of nfs), the file
  32. locking mechanism doesn't quite work.

  34. We were having problems similar to those you describe, until we
  35. upgraded to 4.1.2.  Now things seems to work fine.
  36.  
  37. Network based file locking is handled by rpc.lockd, in case that
  38. information helps.
