- This has got to be one of the most FAQ in this group, but I did not see a
- FAQ list, so here goes... (If this is already answered, please point me
- in that direction)
-
- We are using AppleTalk and FastPath 5s to get to ethernet to access VMS.
-
- We are considering purchasing ethernet cards for each Mac in order to
- increase speed. This is fairly significant in cost when we start talking
- 200-300 users.
-
- My question is: are there any other significant issues other than speed
- vs. cost? Obviously, it would be cheaper to stay with AppleTalk, but
- we would gain performance going straight ethernet.
-
- What kind of speed gain are we talking about here? I think AT is rated
- around 238(?) KB/sec, and ethernet is supposed to me more like 4 MB/sec.
- What are people's real-world experiences in performance gains?
-
- Any info or experience would be much appreciated.
