  25. There is a bug in the LocalTalk implementation in the Quadra
  26. ROM's that leads to flakey network behaviour with some devices
  27. devices. (Farallon Star Controllers, LaserWriter IINT, some other
  28. networked printers, etc.)

  32. 1) Wait for the next release of System 7.
  33.  
  34. 2) Use the Network Software Installer (available from ftp.apple.com)
  35.    to install updated LocalTalk drivers.

  40. The NSI 1.2.1 installer can be found in the directory:
  41.   /dts/mac/sys.soft/netcomm/net-soft-install-1-2-1-imag.hqx

  43. Warning: If you use MacTCP and you use it over LocalTalk there is a
  44. problem with MacTCP 1.1 that may cause you difficulty. After using
  45. the NSI 1.2.1 installer, the MacTCP control panel will no longer show
  46. LocalTalk as one of the connection choices. If you had already
  47. configured MacTCP for LocalTalk, then run the NSI 1.2.1
  48. installer, there is no problem; MacTCP will continue using
  49. LocalTalk. However you won't be able to configure MacTCP
  50. for LocalTalk after installing NSI 1.2.1.

  52. (A workaround is to configure MacTCP on some other machine and
  53. then then move the configured MacTCP to the Quadra.)
