- We currently use Pathworks for DOS around our area to connect to our
- ethernet system and VAXes. Everyone except me is running DOS (using
- the Intel EtherExpress 16 adapters).
-
- I've been able to get the DOS version to run in a DOS 5 VDM if I use
- setver to tell it it's really DOS 4.0. This isn't good for several
- reasons:
- 1. I can't see drive D: (HPFS) because if I put FSFILTER.SYS
- in the config.sys, the pathworks REDIRector thinks it's
- not running under the correct version of DOS and dies.
- 2. I only have *one* window connected to the ethernet and
- it's marginal and I seem to see a performance degradation
- due to it polling the ethernet card?
- 3. Drive C: (boot drive) cannot be written to in the VDM.
- This is even true if I boot off A: (which makes no sense).
-
- Anyway, what's my point? Is anyone out there running the OS/2 version of
- Pathworks? DEC seems to be clueless: they don't know OS/2 v.2.0 exists and
- have no intention (apparently) of doing anything about it. They also
- indicate that the current version *won't work* (given the first statement,
- does the second make sense? ;-) )
-
- So, anyone using Pathworks successfully under OS/2? I'm also looking for
- experience with the Intel EtherExpress card/drivers. I've no experience
- before now with networking so any info is appreciated.
-
- I guess a post here is great or email is even better (so I don't miss
- that Holy Grail message--I'll post it here after I receive it, if ya
- want).
-
- THANKS!!!!!
