- Help me please! I just bought OS2 2.0 via the 1-800 number and am
- having difficulties (to say the least) installing it. I have a 20Mhz
- 386 made by Unisys (Pheonix bios) with a 160 meg SCSI HD, vanilla VGA,
- HD 3.5 drive A, HD 5.25 drive B. The install disks are 3.5 as
- requested.
-
- I am attempting a dual operating system installation in the same
- partition. I have over 55 megs free on the scsi drive. I followed the
- instructions in the installation guide to the letter (copy c:\*.* c:\dos
- etc, etc...) The system boots from the installation disk, I am
- prompted to put in disk 1 (which I do...) The screen changes to the
- colored OS2 rings, the message: "Loading..." (or similar words) comes
- up, and after a short period of time, I get the following.
-
- ... Top of screen is filled with 386 extended register dump ...
- then an internal error number:
- ##0160:fff6453f - 000d:a53f.
- 60000, 9084
-
- 038600d,
- Internal revision 6.307 92/03/01
-
- followed by the statement that I should phone my support number
- and tell them this information.
-
- My question is, of course, does anyone out there know what I'm doing
- wrong, or why this is not working? I have tried a number of tricks to
- fix the problem, like disabling shadow rom, and cache control via the
- bios setup, but nothing helps. Should I send it back? Help me Obi-wan,
- your my only remaining hope. :)
-
- Thanks in advance for any assistance. (please email...)
