- 1) Has anyone encountered a drive icon that won't open? In my case it is
- D:, which is HPFS. I have the latest kernel and the HPFS fix loaded. From
- the drive icon menu, CHKDSK tells me I have errors. Booting from diskette
- and running CHKDSK D: /F or CHKDSK D: /F:3 no longer report any errors (had
- some before), but the icon on the desktop still won't open.
-
- 2) Has anyone documented the actual method for using a non-OS/2 backup
- procedure? (I have considered copying my disk to a network-accessible disk,
- if I can figure out *exactly* how to back up the EA's, etc. Is it *really*
- as simple as "run EABACKUP, copy all files, reformat, recopy all files and
- run EARESTORE"? Somehow I am sure I will lose the desktop or somesuch thing
- with such an approach.
-
- 3) How important is it to have an updated boot diskette? Booting from the
- install disks after upgrading the kernel, the HPFS driver, etc. seems
- dangerous to me (for example, CHKDSK was reporting SWAPPER.DAT problems
- until I updated the HPFS.IFS driver on the diskette I was booting from.
