  15. i receently invested in a new video card--Diamond Speedstar 24X (the 24X NOT
  16. the 24) an have been gennerally pleazed with th speed of it.. it is quite
  17. nice for plain jane VGA mode for the WPS.. i had a heck of a tim setting it
  18. up to work though and though tha i would post a note here for anyone that may
  19. be havin g troubles as well.
  20. the first prob. you will run into is whn you boot OS/2 for th first time with
  21. the card in the machine--you get the c000005 error upon bootup. th fix is to
  22. either use a dos boot disk or an os/2 boot diskette to get you in the system
  23. to a prompt and apply the fix for bvhsvga.dll  this fix is generally avail
  24. able and does the job th first time. 
  25. the next prob that yhou will prob. have is that when you try to access any
  26. of the extended video modes (i.e. in a VDM) such as 640x480x256 or 
  27. 800x600x256 yo may have a loss of synch. (the screen goes all wavy).  
  28. you can fix this by usin the utility that came on the video card diskettes
  29. called 24xmode.com.  this utility is used to select wha type of monitor you
  30. are using and is loaded in the autoexec.bat file each time you open a VDM or
  31. go to windows fullscreen.  what is reallly nice about this card \is that even
  32. though i am using a high color driver for windows full screen mode, i am still
  33. able to use individual winodwos programs in seamless VGA mode.. the best of
  34. both worlds! but the caveat is that if you do this you cant switch between
  35. programs becasue you reallly screw up the video modes and OS/2 gets really
  36. confused. havent found a way around this one yet. so anyone with ideas give
