  12. To those of you who don't know, IBM has repeatedly stated that the upcoming
  13. bug fixes and enhancements will be free.

  15. The 32-bit GRE
  16. Wanted to get it in the GA release but didn't have it released in time,
  17. said that it would be free when finished.  Restated this at PC Expo.
  18. Restated again in a document by IBM detailing their plans for OS/2.
  19. (This was made in August, I recently reposted it to this group)

  21. Windows 3.1
  22. IBM said that it would be added to OS/2, and that some 3.1 code is in
  23. WIN-OS/2 right now.  Said at PC Expo that it was going into beta testing
  24. in July, they did not say when it will be out.
  25. In the IBM document detailing their plans for OS/2, they said it will
  26. be available in the fall, free electronically or for a media charge
  27.  
  28. IBM stated that in the fall a Performance and Service pack in which
  29. they pack up all the known fixes and the product enhancements will
  30. be offered for a media charge or free electronically.
  31. The P&S Pack will include Win3.1, 32-bit GRE, and drivers for XGA,
  32. SVGA, and 8514/A.

  34. They also state that for a media charge or free electronically, in
  35. the fall, over 200 applets(productivity applications, tools, utilities,
  36. games, and bitmaps) will be made available, and that they will probably
  37. offer a CD version on this.

  39. The last item I will summarize from the very informative document is
  40. that IBM states in the fall OS/2 will be available in a package
  41. containing 2 diskettes and a CD.
