  33. I had similar problems!!!

  35. I moved a working drive to my system as a 2nd IDE drive... and couldn't do
  36. ANYTHING with it.

  38. I had the divide by factor for the BUS in my PC too low.  As I have a 33MHz
  39. machine and all was well at /2 for the bus... I was running all my cards at
  40. 16.5 Mhz.... No problems until I put in a 2nd hard drive (41 meg salvaged
  41. Maxtor).  Then it refused to work.....  (didn't try DOS)

  43. Bringing the BUS speed closer to 8MHz fixed this for me.  I now use /3
  44. for the bus (11MHz?) and all is well.  Some stuff slowed down a bit....
  45. but at least the system is working!!!!
