  13. I've run into an installation problem on the following hardware:

  15.     Toshiba 3300SL notebook (25 MHz 386SL) w/ 8 meg + 64K CPU cache

  18. The problem is that I can't seem to make OS/2 recognize an Imsi PC
  19. Stylus pointing device.   IBM is looking into the problem but have no
  20. suggestion at the moment, other than to switch mice [a definite
  21. possibility, as this one is brand new, but I like it and would like to
  22. keep it if possible].

  24. Symptom:   OS/2 *does* give me the mouse selection menu during
  25. installation.   OS/2 does not recognize the mouse at any point during
  26. installation.   When OS/2 is rebooted, the error message
  27.

  29.     SYS1201: The device driver "C:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS " specified
  30. in the DEVICE command on line 58 of the CONFIG.SYS file was not
  31. installed.  Line 58 is ignored.   Press Enter to continue.

  34. is displayed.   I haven't modified the CONFIG.SYS generated by
  35. installation in any way, though I did verify that the line

  37.     DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VMOUSE.SYS

  39. is indeed in CONFIG.SYS and that the above file does exist in the
  40. specified directory.

  43. I was wondering if anyone had had a similar problem.   My solution
  44. will be to return the mouse if I can't get it working in the next day
  45. or so, but I would really rather keep this model because it is very
  46. convenient for a portable.
