- Unless somebody has recompiled them recently, the OS/2 2.0 versions
- of cjpeg and djpeg at ftp-os2.nmsu.edu are the ones I compiled using
- GCC 2.1. They are fully 32-bit and marginally faster (much faster
- for memory-intensive conversions) than the the 32-bit DOS version put
- out by the Independent JPEG Group. I don't remember the exact numbers,
- but I could dig them up if you want. (I ran the benchmarks making sure
- things didn't start swapping)
-
- Somebody else compiled 32-bit DOS binaries with DJGPP's GCC 2.1 for
- DOS, and those are nearly identical in speed to the OS/2 binaries.
- However, they aren't DPMI compliant.
-
- Stick with the OS/2 version. It's faster and multitasks better.
