- I've been benchmarking DOS sessions using the PC Tech Journal benchmark
- program, playing with the HW ROM TO RAM and VIDEO EMULATION settings as
- well as enabling and disabling my AMI bios' shadow RAM. As far as I can tell,
- I get the best performance with shadow RAM enabled, VIDEO EMULATION on, and
- HW ROM TO RAM off; turning shadow RAM off and using HW ROM TO RAM on, as
- suggested by the FAQ, isn't as fast. I haven't done any comparisons in
- WIN-OS/2 or OS/2, but my impression is that having shadow RAM enabled there
- isn't slowing anything down. Does anyone else have similar results?
-
- (My machine is an uncached 8 meg AMD 386sx-33 with a new AMI bios which,
- unlike older AMI bios's, lets me use the full 8 megs of memory if shadow
- RAM is off).
