  13.     I recently upgraded to Windows 3.1 and seem to be having a great deal
  14. of trouble with swapfiles.  My setup:
  15.     386/33 8MB RAM
  16.     Adaptec 1542A SCSI Controller
  17.     Quantum 80MB and Maxtor 120MB SCSI drives
  18.     HIMEM.SYS, EMM386.SYS (Win 3.1 versions)
  19.     SMARTDRV.SYS (Win 3.1 version w/ double buffering)
  20.     RAMDRIVE.SYS (512K in extended; Win 3.1 version)
  21.     ASPI4DOS.SYS (V 3.0A w/ /V option)
  22.     MOUSE.SYS, ANSI.SYS, JETSCRPT.SYS (QMS JetScript driver)
  23.     MS-DOS 5.0
  24. I this setup everything works fine until I try and use a swapfile.  With 
  25. Win 3.0 I could use a temporary swapfile, but I could not set up a permanent
  26. swapfile.  With Win 3.1 I can't use any type of swapfile.  If I do set one up
  27. Windows locks up the machine on exit (time for the three-fingered salute), I
  28. lose most of my program groups, and most of the files on my hard disk are
  29. corrupted (cross-linked, truncated, etc.).  I really need to be able to use
  30. a swapfile to run Mathematica proberly (even with 8MB RAM).  Does anyone
  31. know of a fix for this problem?  Any help would be appreciated.
