- I get an offer for buying Q+E Database from Pioneer Software and VB.
-
- Offer is roughly half price for both products and I would like to know
- if Q+E is valuable or not.
-
- QEVB is an add-on to VB. It allows to connect a dBase style database
- to a windows application.
-
- Application I have in head is a genealogical editor (i.e. one screen
- is either one person, one family, one couple, a subtree, etc.). Using
- dBase will made my data about 3 times bigger than a text format, but
- will be enough for a 1st version or a demo.
-
- I already tried Realizer and just did notlike the product. You can't
- re-work a screen with their screen editor (which I find very annoying)
- after modification of program. Is VB better than that? I currently use
- Windowsmaker prototyper (a good screen editor and will read back dialogs
- it generates, but not the #defined label) with Zortech compiler (the
- product is compiler independant and is supplied _as_a_demo_ with ZTC 3.0).
-
- So, a short review of VB and any information about QEVB will be
- welcome.

- P.S. What is that claim by MS that VB will 1000000 (1 million) lines
- per minute? Is this 1M _empty_ lines? Is this because the compiler
- only catch where are the routines first line? Is VB slow in execution?
