-
- =>Pretty straightforward: if an application invokes the function
- =>MessageBeep with the parameter corresponding to the MessageBox icon,
- =>then you get the sound. If it doesn't, and most don't, then no sound.
-
- That's how I understood it as well - If the asterisk-, information-
- (etc.) or question mark icon is included in a dialog box, then I
- should get the sound. Only I didn't - and still doesn't, apart from
- occational 'happenings'.
-
- =>The icon parameters are: MB_ICONASTERISK (same as MB_ICONINFORMATION),
- =>and MB_ICONEXCLAMATION.
-
- I know. I wrote a small, simple test program (using TPW 1.0) which
- pops up a dialog box with several of the icons included (one at a
- time!), with the word 'test' and only an 'OK' button.
-
- But nope. Only sound in about one in ten attempts, seemingly random.
- But the Windows Start and Windows Exit sounds always work... Why only
- those?
-
- =>You can get the Exclamation sound very easily: just do something stupid.
- =>No, take off the funny red plastic nose: I meant do something in an
- =>application that is stupid. Try pressing Page Up when you're at the
- =>beginning of a file. That sort of thing.
-
- I've tried that also, and it seems to work every time. I think the red
- nose did it... ;-) .....
