- There are a number of solutions. First, If you are using Word on the Mac,
- I suggest saving all your files in the RTF format (called interchange format on the Mac). They are the easiest
- to import into Word for Windows on the PC, and they retain all formatting.
- Now, I hope your PC has a 1.44 Mb floppy dirve. That is the key.
- There are two approaches:
- 1) Format a floppy on the PC for 1.44 Mb. Take it to the Mac and use Apple
- File Exchange to copy the RTF files
- to the disk. RTF files are pure ASCII files. (Note: I forgot to say that your Mac better have a HDD (Superdrive)).
- Carry the copied files to the PC and import them into WfW. They will look fine.
- The more matching fonts you hve on the PC the better the stuff looks.
- 2) Copy the RTF files to a Mac disk (it still must be HDD) and download
- the utility DOS-MAC.ZIP (or similar name) that knows how to read a Mac
- diskette on a DOS machine. I have played with this utility and it works.
-
- There is a third alternative that I use the most. Connect both machines
- to an eithernet and use FTP software. I use WinQVT/NET on the PC (under
- Windows) and NCSA Telnet on the Mac.
-
- Finally, you can connect their serial ports together with a null modem
- and use KERMIT or similar program to move the data.
-
- I have left out other unusual options, like buying an AppleTalk card for the
- PC or a SCSI hard drive.
-
- These approaches are only outlined above, let me know if you need more specifics.
