- This is not true, at least not if you're running MS Windows 3.1 (I don't
- recall if they had the printer drivers set up the same way in 3.0; I
- didn't have a printer then). There are apparently some printer library
- routines that applications use to print, but they're actually hooks into
- whichever printers driver(s) you have loaded. This way any application
- can print anything to any printer as long as you have the driver for it
- (sounds to Unix to me :-). WinFAX Pro uses this to let you "print" to
- your fax modem to send documents.
-
- I've printed to a Panasonic KX-P2123 with color option kit. The colors
- sometimes come out strange, but I think that's because of the driver I'm
- using (I've only found one driver that understands color, and that was on
- a Microsoft BBS, not Panasonic; Word for Windows has the same problem as
- Frame). You're mileage may vary, but if you're using a reasonably
- popular 24-pin printer, I think you'll be pleased with the result.
