  13. I grabbed the following message with SNIPPER from a cold boot of my '286:

  27. If I hit [spacebar] everything seems to work just fine...It seems as if
  28. I'm even allowed to use all 2 meg of my XMS (1648k available after a
  29. ramdrive to hold command.com and a 384k SmartDrv disk cache).

  31. I know a parity error is a problem with the chips.  We replaced the banks
  32. though, and it works fine when I have the board configured as Expanded
  33. (EMS) memory.  When I configure it as Extended (XMS) memory though, I 
  34. get the above error.  What's wrong?  Is it something with the board, 
  35. the chips, or just himem?

  37. I don't particularly care about the error -- I still can use the memory
  38. as far as I can tell -- but it's annoying that I have to hit a key to
  39. get the computer to boot completely!  :-(
