- Hi there,
-
- I know the original question dealt with lengthening the path, and
- there seemed to be an informed reply, so I won't comment on that,
- however...
-
- As another thought, how many of the files in your path directories do
- you actually call. Obviously \Utils quite a few, but in some
- (like say \Word ) almost none. I mean even if you use all the .EXE
- and/or .COM files they are still a small percentage of the files there.
-
- One way to speed up the system, and shorten the path, is to put these
- calls into one directory in the form of batch files.
- eg in a new directory, say /PAT put a file called Word.Bat containing the
- full path call to Word.exe eg c:/word/word.exe
-
- The cost is a little disk space (About 2 K per file + directory space.)
- Might still be worth it though.
- Any Comments ??
-
- Cheers
- Bruce
