- The MS-DOS 5 _UPGRADE_ has 2 or 3 REDIR*.* files, also NETWKST*.*
- files, also NET5.COM and IPX.OBJ and DMDRVR.BIN...all DOS 5 compatible.
- These files are included as a courtesy so that people who are upgrading
- can do so as easily as possible. Some people actually think Microsoft
- WROTE that NET5.COM...HA!! Microsoft arranged with Novell to ship
- 5.0-compatible Netware files to make both the user's and Novell's
- lives easier. Same with the other files...Microsoft's Network group
- wrote the LAN Manager files, just like Novell wrote the Netware files.
-
- The UPGRADE also has a setup program that includes the ability to
- uninstall back to your old DOS version using the [DOS 5 bootable]
- uninstall disk created by Setup.
-
- MS-DOS 5 (not the upgrade) doesn't include any of the above. MS-DOS
- 5 (not the upgrade) is for new machines only. It's setup program will
- partition and format a low-levelled disk, etc. Some people call it
- the "FULL MS-DOS" ... once either is installed, the DOS is the same
- (unless you have an OEM MS-DOS 5 and the OEM changed something).
-
- So, if you have the Upgrade, you probably have REDIR*.*, check the
- _Getting Started_. If not, contact your network manufacturer.
-
- Make sense?
