  12. I have been having the strangest (and most annoying) problems
  13. with Windows/Cd Rom/ and Stacker
  14.  
  15. here's the scoop:

  17. I have a 386dx 33mhz with the following:
  18. Sony Laser Library Cd Rom (external) w/ interface
  19. Logitech Scanman + w/ interface
  20. Soundblaster Pro
  21. Orchid Fahrenheit 1280
  22. Logitech Serial Mouse
  23. 9600 Baud Modem (external serial)
  24. SyQuest 44meg external cartridge drive w/ seagate 102 scsi interface
  25.  
  26. Everex Ram 8000 (maybe 3000 but I think it's 8) w/ 4megs 'o ram
  27. --- configured as xms

  30. Motherboard has 4 megs ' ram.

  32. the problem(s):

  34. for a while, windows wouldn't start about every 3 days... says it can't find
  35. a driver... (only happens when cd-rom card is in)
  36. if I take out the cd-rom card and put it back in.. everything is ok
  37. for 3 days....

  40. next problem
  41. getting "drive not ready..." in windows... drive is a stacker drive
  42. getting LOTS of read fault error in windows  on same drive and other drives
  43. occasionally

  46. ran NDD said that the stacker drive (F:) has 9 bad sectors.
  47. (first time an error has ever occured on the drive)
  48. when I dismount the stacker drive and run NDD on the
  49. stacvol.dsk file NO problems are found...

  53. RANDOM Parity errors:  memory location ????:???? I can't figure this one
  54. out.. but it ONLY happens when cd-rom interface is in computer

  58. board por i/o addresses APPEAR to be non-conflicting (as much as I can figure
  59. out)

  61. no irq conflicts
  62. no dma conflicts

  64. lately... windows doesn't like my idea of disabling an ems page frame
  65. and configuring it as upper memory where I load drivers to.
  66.  (using NETROOM 2.00 rather happily)

  68. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS REGARDING MY PROBLEMS?
