- Goodday to y'all!
-
- I have the following problem with DOS 5.0 HIMEM.SYS:
-
- When I boot my AT-clone the following message appears:
-
- HIMEM: DOS XMS Driver, Version 2.77 - 02/27/91
- XMS Specification Version 2.0
- Copyright 1988-1991 Microsoft Corp.
-
- Installed A20 handler number 14. <======== ????????
- 64K High Memory Area is available.
-
-
- after that I find
- HMA not available : Loading DOS low
- on the screen.
-
- MEM/C tells me:
- High Memory Area in use
- instead of the usual
- MS-DOS Resident in High Memory Area
-
- Is there anyone out there who knows why handler #14 is installed
- instead of #1? Why is HMA in use while it wasn't available during
- boot-up?
-
- (Relevant lines in config.sys:
- DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
- DOS=HIGH,UMB
- )
-
- Please respond by E-mail.
