- : CHORUS is NOT an OS based on Mach !
- : CHORUS is a real-time microkernel written by Chorus Systemes (Paris).
- : It has the same features than Mach.
- :
- : Chorus/Mix is the Unix Multi-server running on top of the micro-kernel. There are
- : different versions of the server (BSD, SYS VR4).
- :
- : At CERN, a group is porting Chorus and Chorus/Mix to the T800 and T9000
- : transputers (Harmony project).
- : Chorus is used in a distributed operating system course made at the university
- : of NANCY (France) by Francois Schwaab (schwaab@loria.fr). I'm in fact a student coming from this university.
- : It is used in the industry too : Alcatel Business System (Strasbourg, France)
- : use the Chorus microkernel in its telecommunication products.
- :
- : Chorus has a few interresting features not present in mach (real-time,
- : supervisor actors) but many theorical features are not yet implemented
- : (Kernel 3.3 lacks port migration, remote actors and threads creation,
- : region migration, etc...)
- :
- : Does anybody know if the Chorus microkernel 3.4 has all these interresting features ?
- : Is there a chorus newsgroup ?
- : Does anybody use Chorus (any types of machines) (industry, research, university)?
- :
- : Please reply by email.

- YES YES YES
- You're all right! CHORUS has no MACH-microkernel!
- There has been some sort of misunderstanding! :-(
- Therefore i withdraw all i have posted about CHORUS.
-
- But it's true that one can get information about CHORUS at opera.chorus.fr.
-
- But what a nice start changing the discussion to CHORUS.
- From those scripts at opera i see that there has been an implementation
- of CHORUS for T9000 (is this true or not????).
- But then, how's the porting of CHORUS for T800 going?
- What will be that version like?
- When will it be possible getting CHORUS for transputers?
- What will it cost? (Or will there be any possibility becoming
- a Beta-tester for CHORUS??)
-
- I will be glad about any information concering CHORUS.
-
- Thanks to Fabien for the correction
