  10. I was wondering if anyone knows how to configure Linux for use
  11. with high speed modems where for best performance the serial port
  12. should be locked to a baud rate higher than the connect baud 
  13. rate. Actually this is even useful with 2400 baud modems which
  14. support error correction. Because the error correction process
  15. strips start and stop bits and "packetizes" the information,
  16. effective transfer speeds jump from about 230 cps to around 270
  17. cps. What is needed is a way of turning on hardware flow control
  18. between Linux and the modem. Did the patches that allowed for 
  19. 16550 Uarts also include hardware flow control? I was under the
  20. impression that the author said the hardware flow control would
  21. be available for release 0.97.
