  12. Version ALPHA.5 of LILO can be found on sunsite.unc.edu as
  13. /pub/Linux/Incoming/lilo.5.tar.Z
  14. The documentation is also available as a PostScript file, named
  15. lilo.5.ps.Z

  17. It works with the 0.96c-pl1 kernel or anything newer. The
  18. compatibility problem of lilo.4 with 0.97-pl2 kernels has been
  19. fixed.

  21. Because the binary release of lilo.4 was practically useless and
  22. because there are currently several libraries in use (and I don't
  23. want to link it statically), I'm distributing lilo.5 again as a
  24. source-only release.

  26. The probably most important feature of lilo.5 is the revised and
  27. extended documentation. It now also covers the basics about booting
  28. and partitions and is written in LaTeX. You need LaTeX and Transfig
  29. (and dvi2whatever) to print it. I've also uploaded a PostScript
  30. file for those who don't have access to TeX. (Maybe somebody should
  31. also provide a HP DJ version ?)

  33. The README (formatted ASCII) has been trimmed and only covers the
  34. most important topics.
