- I remember seeing someone posting about having ported zmodem to linux, so
- I thought I'd post my question here. I mailed this to omen!caf but he's
- ignoring it.
-
- I grabbed the source to rz from whatever comp.sources group it was in and
- it compiled and ran to my surprise with no changes. But all through the
- docs and man pages is this big warning "rz is not to be run from 'cu' or
- other terminal programs -- use our professional-yam comm software".
-
- WHY NOT?
-
- I only have kermit, but I've successfully downloaded big binary files by
- starting sz on the remote system, escaping kermit back to local, and running
- "rz </dev/modem >/dev/modem" on another virtual console.
-
- It was not always entirely successful, however, so I'm curious to know if there
- is a short answer to this. (On occasion it will stop in the middle with a
- message about reading the BUGS section of the manual)
