-
- because all I changed were filenames. The crux of my process was simply
- changing filenames in a pretty random way so that the installation
- script would work....and by God it did. Why? I don't know. Did it give
- me a valid GCC compiler? I don't know. All I know was that I got a
- gcc in /usr/bin and a messy filesystem with tons of files all over the
- place. All I want is to know why the shell script doesn't work.
- I EXHAUSTED ALL THE POSSIBILIES......meaning I read, and reread, and reread
- the faq, the readme, and the release notes...and I followed them to the
- letter. And still it doesn't work. I was hoping that someone would
- recognize the error I got or ask me questions about how I did it
- rather than always telling me I didn't read something.
- I READ THE DOCS AND STUFF. People tell my to swallow MY pride, well perhaps
- others should consider their own. I know I would help someone out.
- Heck....my goal was to install gcc and then write a better FAQ and README.
- But that might bruise someone's ego.......

-
- no they don't.....but hopefully just one, just one person could help
- me out. It's a circular thing. Someone helps me out. I help another
- newbie out down the road.

-
- you're right. It is an adventure. But back when I played Dungeons and Dragons
- we used to play with parties of characters. I would just like someone
- to work with. I guess my screaming and stuff could be liked to being
- mauled by a kobold or something :)
-
- BTW, I live near 249 and 1960....near Willowbrook Mall.
- (but in ohio at school :) )
-
- again....my apologies to anyone I offended. i guess I was a little too
- excited. BUT LINUX IS WORTH GETTING EXCITED ABOUT. thanx to all the
- testers, ftp admins, and linus himself.
- later......and any help would be appreciated......I'm still stuck with gcc
