- On the subject of video cards, I'm trying to find an inexpensive way to support
- X on my current 640x480 monitor, while giving myself growing room for when I
- can afford a better monitor. I've seen advertised two inexpensive Tseng Labs
- SVGA cards (no model numbers given):
-
- ET4000 1024x768 $95
-
- ET4000 1280x1024 $105
-
- I'm wondering if either or both of these card will work properly with X386 at
- both 640x480x256 and 1024x768x256 or x16. One of the files in the SLS X
- distribution /usr/lib/X11/docs directory has an Xconfig entry for a Tseng Labs
- card, but I can't tell which of the two it's for.
-
- If anyone has used a Tseng Labs card successfully (or most especially if an
- attempt was unsuccessful), please mail or post to let me know about your
- experience. I'm also interested in what kind of performance I might expect
- with a fairly plain-vanilla non-accelerated card like this.
-
- Thanks for your help,
