- Larix (Load And Run In Kernel Space) allows run time loading
- of device drivers and file systems.
-
- Thus instead of making a change to your device driver, relinking
- the kernel, and rebooting, you now just relink your device driver,
- and load it into kernel space.
-
- I've currently modified the MSDOS filesystem code and the mouse device
- driver to allow dynamic loading. Similar changes to other devices
- are easy and will be done as soon as Linus agrees to inclusion in the
- standard kernel.
-
-
- I've uploaded the context diffs to Linux 0.97pl4 to nic.funet.fi.
- The policy there is however to screen them before making them public
- so they may not be visible exacly now yet.
-
- I couldn't find a writable directory on tsx-11. (I'll upload it there
- as soon as someone tells me where to put it....)
-
-
- Roger.
