  21. Solutions like this tend to orphan those of us on the Fidonet side. 
  22. Presumably the folks gating the news group to Fido will decide whether
  23. everyone here will be connected to alt.os.linux, or comp.os.linux.

  25. So, where does that leave me?  I've written the occasional patch to
  26. kernel source (see previous message) and could certainly profit from
  27. propagating it to people other than newbies (and getting feedback).  So,
  28. maybe I should be gated to comp.os.linux.

  30. On the other hand, I'm not above asking the sort of question that a
  31. newbie would ask....so, perhaps I should be gated to alt.os.linux so as
  32. not to offend "proper" hackers (presumably people who learned un*x via
  33. direct ftp to their cerebral cortices [grin])....

  35. Anyway, I sympathize with your problem, but am not sure there is a
  36. reasonable place to draw a line.  Though, the Linux activists' mailing
  37. groups are available, and they certainly wouldn't contain a lot of
  38. newbie postings....
