- I have a strange problem with my cheep mouse. I use X11, and
- I also (used to) use selection. Back when I still used
- DOS, I used my mouse in 2-button mode. When I installed
- selection long ago, I never bothered to try switching
- it to 3-button mode. I used selection for several months,
- and it really makes life easier.
-
- Now the complicated part: When I installed X11 about
- a month ago, I thought I would preferr a 3-button
- mouse. So I removed selection from my /etc/rc, flipped
- the little switch, set up my Xconfig with MouseSystems
- "/dev/mouse", and X worked gread! ( I LOVE LINUX ). Then
- I got the bright idea of setting up selection with a 3-button
- mouse config so I would still have it when not in X.
-
- I flipped the little switch back, changed selection from P_MS
- to P_MSC ( which is MouseSystems ), and left the baud rate at
- 1200. The test-mouse prog seemed to work fine, but a little
- jerky. The only problem was that selection then was totaly
- unresponsive. I tried every combination of baud rate and
- mouse type and nothing worked.
-
- Then I decided to try changing X to use 2 buttons. I
- changed the mouse back, tested the old selection to ensure
- that it really worked, changed Xconfig to Microsoft "/dev/mouse",
- and ran startx. Well, the mouse was there but very wierd.
- It pressed its own buttons, etc. To make a long story short,
- I have tried every combination of baud rate and mouse type
- that is possible in both selection and in X, and only one
- works for selection, only one for X. Not the same one!
-
- Any clues?
