- I was just wondering what is the best way to submit things to
- tsx-11? Do you just ftp it to incoming? Or do we have to send e-mail
- to somebody special?
-
- Well, if you ftp to tsx-11 and cd /incoming, you will receive the
- following message, which I hope is self-explanatory; if you have any
- questions, please send them to me or to ftp-linux:
-
- ftp> cd incoming
- 250-You have reached the incoming directory. Files which are deposited here
- 250-will not be accessible until an FTP administrator moves it to the proper
- 250-place in the FTP archive.
- 250-
- 250-To speed this process, please send mail to ftp-linux@tsx-11.mit.edu with
- 250-a description of which files you have uploaded, what they do, what
- 250-version of the software you've uploaded, etc.
- 250-
- 250-If possible please bundle uploads into a source tar file, and a binary
- 250-tar file --- and make sure that documentation and any other additional
- 250-files required to use the program are included in both the source and
- 250-binary tar files.
- 250-
- 250-When you send mail to ftp-linux@tsx-11.mit.edu, please make our life
- 250-easier: if you have just uploaded yet another "zoo" archiver, and we
- 250-already have a "zoo" archiver in our archives, tell us *why* your
- 250-package is superior --- whether it's more recent, a better port, a
- 250-more featureful implmentation by a different author, and so on.
- 250-
- 250-Thanks!
- 250-

- Also, would it possible to grep things in the mail archive
- trough FTP? I mean, sometimes I want to look for something in
- particular, and going to the mail-archives and getting EVERYTHING just
- to find some file in particular is wasteful and time consuming. What
- it would be nice is to be able to somehow grep for a string in the
- mail archive directory. Is that possible?
-
- I think someone has set up a WAIS server in Germany so you can do
- keyword lookups on the mail (that is comp.os.linux) archive. I don't
- remember the details, though, and I don't know if it is still being kept
- up to date. Can someone post the details if they have them? Thanks!
