  20. Looking at my handy copy of the "Computer Shopper," (Sept '92)
  21. Hi-Tech (a random choice) is selling a 386/40 with 64K MB cache, 4M ram,
  22. 120M 16MS IDE HD, 1.2 & 1.44 floppies, with monitor and your choice of Diamond
  23. speedstar or Orchid IIs for $1198.

  25. The company I bought my 486/50 from (similar config, except 170M IDE + 
  26. localbus G-HOST4000 Hi-color video) is offering it for $2188.  (Microlink,
  27. pg 154-5).

  30. At this stage in the game, for about $800, you get about 8 time the 
  31. performance... and the ability to later pop in an 'overdrive chip' and
  32. have a 486dx2/100...

  34. Of course, prices are still falling rapidly... so you might want to wait a
