- I just installed Linux last week and I love it. Thanks to Linus and
- everybody for developing this.
-
- After a few days of use, I decided that booting from floppy was tiresome and
- attempted to shoelace my partition. I followed the directions as best I could,
- and it does boot up.
-
- The problem is that update (in the /etc/rc file), sync, halt, mount -t msdos
- /dev/fd0, and probably a few others, cause GP faults:
-
- General Protection: 0000
- EIP: 0008:0000DA11
- Eflags: 00010086
- FS: 17
- Base: 18000000, Limit: 04000000
- Pid: xx, process nr: 6
- 39 78 04 74 06 83 78 04 00 75
-
- The mount command also gives a:
-
- __sleep_on: wait-> next exists
- Segmentation fault.
-
- Anybody know what I did wrong?
-
-
- I've reverted to floppy-boot until this is resolved.
