-
- First of all, please excuse me if this is a mess (chars. in odd places
- and such). This thing is a terrible vt100 emulator.
-
- I have downloaded the SLS distribution from tsx-11 and have it on 5.25"
- floppies, and I want to install it on my hard drive. I want it to boot
- completely from the harddisk (no floppy boot disks) and want the root
- to be on the hard drive as well. The first two rawritten floppies do
- their job, and all is ok so far. The problem is when I want to do a full
- installation (full base and X11). I have tried sysinstall -all and also
- doinstall /dev/hda2. With the first, it asks to insert disk #3 in the
- floppy drive and press return. Upon doing this, it repeats the message.
- It will do this 3 times and return to the prompt. With the second, it
- starts with the same disk #3 message and then responds with "magic match
- failed" or somesuch and comes back to the prompt.
-
- So, what I want to know is first: what do I have to do to get Linux
- installed fully? second, what does the "magic match failed" message
- mean? I have read the FAQ, /user/README, and many of the docs at tsx-11.
- I also have been reading this group for several weeks now, and have not
- seen anything to solve this problem (reading with my eyes closed or
- something? maybe...)
-
- Anyway, please help me with this; replies here or e-mail are fine.
-
- Thanks,
