  18. Along the lines of my last questions, about the progress of Linux over
  19. the Summer, I've been seeing a lot of this (5 hours to recompile
  20. kernel).  Is this because the kernel is bigger and GCC slower than
  21. they were when we had 0.96, or are the auth}rs just running slow
  22. machines?  I seem to recall about 15 minutes for a recompilation.

  24. BTW, I've gotten several responses about what's new.  Thank you.  The
  25. only question still un-answered was about my patches to selectively
  26. allow foreign char. sets on VC's.  No one seems to know anyone about
  27. them, so I guess a) I'm the only one who ever used them, and b)
  28. they're not in the new kernel.
