  12. Sorry about this but I am a little lost.
  13. I just upgraded to Linux .97PL2.
  14. ( Was running 96b and X 1.0 )
  15. I started over and used the MCC install software.
  16. ( Great stuff!! )
  17. I then downloaded X 1.1 from tsx-11 and installed it.
  18. This version of X seems to expect 2.2.2 GCC and not
  19. 2.2.2d . ( Is there a newer version of X? ). It wants
  20. a file at /lib/libc.2.2.2.  I tried linking all the libcs
  21. that I could find to /lib/libc.2.2.2 this didn't work.
  22. I tried to find an old version of GCC.2.2.2 but could not.
  23. I did however find the SLS release with GCC2.2.2 and installed
  24. this. ( Disk 7 ). I still don't have a /lib/libc.2.2.2
  25. I again tried linking the 2.2.2 libcs to /lib/libc.2.2.2 and
  26. this didn't work.
  27.  I know I must have missed a FAQ or a README and am sorry for this
  28. post but the next step for me is to download all the X source
  29. and compile with gcc.2.2.2d.
  30. I didn't use the SLS package because I wanted the .97 kernel.

  35. PS The NCR version of Unix V.4 does have a file system that
  36.    allows for greater then 14 character file names. ( It is 
  37.    optional ) I don't know if this is standard USL though.
