Don't give up!  I had EXACTLY the same problem:  my 2400 baud worked
great, but 9600 baud died on the vine.  I noticed that the DEFAULT for
the modem was DTR strapped.  I solved it by adding the appropriate "Q"
command to my mwcbbs "chat script".  I also changed the script to use the
NON-TELEBIT 9600 phone number (which I don't have handy at the moment).
Also, I noticed that in your modeminit, etc. the words "2400 baud" show
up now and again.  Not to be insulting, but have you defined a seperate
'system' in L.sys or taken any some other means to distinguish between
your 2400 and 9600 baud transactions?

Hope this helps out.
BTW had any problems with "inode busy" messages when a CRON process
takes off?
