  11. IBM offers three products that are capable of displaying video in 
  12. OS/2 windows.  These are:
  13.  
  14.    1) IBM PS/2 TV
  15.       This is an external box that chains between the graphics adapter
  16.       and the display.  It accepts various video inputs as well as 
  17.       contains an on-board cable decoder.  Speakers for audio are 
  18.       part of the box (about 12"x9"x2" perhaps?)  It is controllable
  19.       via software (for Windows and OS/2), communicating via the 
  20.       keyboard.  It takes no slots, does good video - no chroma
  21.       keying, video in a rectangle only - and is cheap.

  23.       Current price : About $399 from the 1-800 IBM Direct number

  25.    2) IBM M-Motion Video Adapter/A
  26.       Very similar to the DVA-4000, this adapter works with VGA and
  27.       XGA in modes up to 640x480, and provides lots of video functions-
  28.       multiple sources for video and line audio, NTSC and PAL support
  29.       in both base and Y/C modes, video attributes control (brightness,
  30.       color, contrast, etc), image capture and restore, graphics and 
  31.       video region protect, freeze frames, digital audio capture and
  32.       playback, etc.

  34.       Software support is via the IBM M-Control Program/2 Version 2.0,
  35.       which includes DOS, Windows 3.0, Windows MMEs, OS/2 1.3, and
  36.       a commitment to OS/2 2.0 MMPM.

  38.       Cost : About $1399 via the 1-800 number, and another $200 for 
  39.              the software development kit containing material for 
  40.              all the OS's supported.

  42.    3) ActionMedia II (DVI)
  43.       This has been discussed before.  The DVI based boards will
  44.       capture and playback digital video, but they can also run in 
  45.       a video pass-through mode for video in a window.  They have
  46.       provided OS/2 support for quite a while, and recently 
  47.       announced support for OS/2 MMPM.

  49.       Cost : I really don't know what it is now.

  52. prices, since there are special prices from that source versus 
  53. the standard IBM rep order process.  Also obtain the format
  54. product information for all the function details.
