- I signed onto Prodigy a little while ago, and one of the "highlights" was
- that Prodigy was changing their rates. Thinking they were coming to their
- senses and lowering them, I quickly jumped to this message. No suck luck...
- Now the monthly non-term rate is $14.95. BUT, for a limited time you can
- lock onto the old rate for a year, and at the end of this time you will
- have to start paying the new rate. It works out to $12.95/month if you pay
- a year in advance. I myself have a term plan that expires in Nov., but I
- think I'll cancel *P*, because this is the last straw. As others have
- mentioned, you sometimes have to sit through an animated advertisement that
- takes forever to go by. Surely they must be making more money than ever
- before on advertising, so why not lower the rates!!
-
- There will also be an internet connection available soon to Dos users for
- an "additional fee". (how much of an addition I wonder) Mac and windows
- users will have to wait till next year. They also will offer offline e-mail
- composition, a self serving thing they try to make sound so great...
-
- Someone also mentioned that the keyboard locks out during the
- advertisements, but there is a program I got for my mac from an ftp site
- that allows uploading of text as well as typing ahead called *P* to disk.
- All well and good, but you still have to sit through the ads no matter
- what.
-
- I find myself using *P* less and less these days anyways and with their e-
- mail limit of 30 per month and the raised rate who needs it! Come November
- it's goodbye *P*!
