  34. I get this problem when I connect to my feed without error correction.
  35. His modem will talk to his computer at 38400 when an error correcting
  36. call is negotiated, but at only 19200 when a non-error corrected call
  37. is made. His getty only talks at 38400, so non error corrected calls
  38. do not get a prompt.
  39. Are you sure modems and gettys at each end are talking at the same
  40. rates? My modem a HST DS v32bis will initially talk at the speed the 
  41. serial line was at when the settings were last saved into NVRAM.
  42. So you gotta remember this.
