- I'm sure a lot of people have done this, so instead of bothering Ian in person
- I'll just ask here. Decided to install Taylor UUCP 1.0.3 (plus the Z patch)
- on a 4/330 I'm responsible for last night. Aside from some hacks on the system
- include files to get it to build with GCC 2, the build went quite cleanly. Once
- I tried to test it out, though, I ran into some nasty problems. First off, I
- noticed that the signal handling was completely hosed. ^Z brought on a "Killed"
- exit, kill -INT did nothing, kill -HUP did nothing, kill -STOP did, in fact,
- stop (I was wondering just what had gone nuts there for a moment...), but TSTP
- did just what ^Z did, killed it. Weird, but I figured I could look at it later.
- Okay, so I carefully saved my HDB stuff in a tar and tried to fire up a
- connection to our newsfeed using Taylor. It seemed to read my Dialers file
- fine, sent the ATS.... string,_or so it said_, and then hung looking for "OK".
- _REALLY_ hung, never did seem to time out or anything, just sat there for
- about ten minutes till I lost my patience and killed it. I figured maybe I
- ought to try rebuilding with BSD_TTY instead of TERMIO, but just then I
- accidentally foregrounded another instance of uucico I had running to see if
- it would work using DIR and a hacked-up chat script, whichthen decided that it
- wouldn't exit or return to the background no matter what I hit on the keyboard,
- and locked up the only working dialin on the machine. So much for the night's
- work, at least on _that_ problem. Has onyone gotten this combination (Taylor
- 1.03, SunOS 4.1.2, Z patch) to work reliably? If it matters, which I can't
- see how it could, my modems are hanging off an ALM-2, and they're T2500s. Oh,
- and my favorite color is purple, and I'm a Gemini.

- Grrrrrrrrrrrr......
