- I use a "Fax switch". The way it works is: the modem answers the phone and
- emits the high pitched tone, If the incomming call is a fax, the caller will
- have either already pushed the "send" button or the tone from the answering
- modem will prompt him to push the "send" button. Since the answering modem
- doesn't recognize fax tones, it will sit there for about 10 seconds until the
- fax switch changes to the fax machine which is set up for autoanswer. Voila! A
- fax. simularly, if the incomming call had been a modem call the modem would
- answer it before the fax switch kicked in.
