- A little help, please.
-
- I am trying to track down a problem with truncated return addresses.
-
- When an error messages is generated on our end (ei. user unknown)
- the address that is used to send back to the originator looses some
- characters from the right side. It looks OK in the From: field
- (no Reply-field is present) but not when it gets to the To: field.
- This problem only exists for automated replies to error messages.
- It does not happen with regular usage. Addresses go through ruleset 0
- just fine.
-
- Can someone please tell me the sequence that sendmail goes through
- to return an error message? A better understanding of how it works
- may help me figure it out.
-
- Please note that I have already read all the standard sendmail docs
- plus _Unix System Administration Handbook_, and rfc's 821 and 822.
- I've also picked up a few docs form the uunet archive. I don't claim,
- however, that I didn't miss something of importance.
-
- This one has me stumped.
-
-
- Thank you,
-
