- We have a similar set up, only we mount /usr/mail from a sun sparc-2.
- Thing ran fine for about 2 weeks, then we started to get the
- "lock not createable after 10 tries" message. Now the only
- response (or non response) we get is a hung process. It seems to be
- a problem with the lock file. When the process is hung if we kill the
- lock deamon on the local machine, the process comes back. You can not
- kill the process until the lockd is killed.
- (of course this is a feature on hpux as you can't get a signal to a process
- that is blocked on I/O :-)
-
- We called HP about this and there response was
- We will have an answer for you TOMORROW!
-
- well, tomorrow was one week ago... still no response.
-
- Any one out there have any ideas?
-
- for now we have replaced mail and mailx with shell scripts telling people
- to use elm. (what a kludge! yech!)
-
- I hope someone out there might have an idea.
-
- The oddest part is that it worked for weeks and the slowly stopped working.
