- Postings on the Info-Nets list have discussed this, but the recommended
- address syntax is somewhat different. It is:
-
- GIVENNAME.SURNAME@ibmx400-COUNTRY.ibmmail.circe.fr
-
- COUNTRY is the country code of the ibmer, surname is normally the
- last name of the person, and givenname is a name given by mother
- blue which is something like the first chars of the last name
- followed by the initials but never longer than 7 chars.
-
- The mail _always_ goes through the gateway in France, no matter where
- the IBM person is. So your first example address would be
-
- figovhm.figov@ibmx400-gb.ibmmail.circe.fr
-
- and the second would be
-
- xxxxzz.xxxx@ibmx400-us.ibmmail.circe.fr
-
- On the other hand, that was back in February. You might find that your
- US correspondent can now be reached with something like
-
- zxxxx@ibmmail.com
-
- More information might be available from the postmaster there.
